A new hotel centered on music and creative industries will open in Tulum in December 2026. The UMusic Hotel & Beach Club is scheduled to launch in the first week of that month.

The project is a collaboration involving UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, developers Inmobilia and Thor Urbana, and the United Nations Tourism agency (ONU Turismo). It has backing from both state and federal governments. The initiative is linked to the Tulum Renace strategy.

Project Details and Features

The complex will feature 57 guest rooms. A key component is a beach club with a capacity for 800 people. The property will also include a creative center designed for concerts, live events, audiovisual production, and content creation.

Additional facilities will cater specifically to creative professionals. These include recording studios and workspaces for musicians, filmmakers, producers, designers, and digital creators.

Goals for Tourism and Economy

The Quintana Roo State Tourism Ministry (Sedetur) stated the project aims to generate tourist activity year-round. Officials hope it will increase economic spillover for local hotels, restaurants, shops, transport providers, and tour operators.

Bernardo Cueto Riestra, the state tourism secretary, commented on the development. "Among jungle, sea, cenotes and centuries of Mayan history, Tulum has earned a reputation that few destinations can match," he said. "Now, with the arrival of UMusic Hotel to that history, music adds another layer to what makes Tulum special."

He described the alliance as an opportunity to strengthen a form of tourism that values local culture, boosts talent, and generates well-being for communities.

Strategic Partnerships and Calendar

The project represents the first implementation in Mexico of a Memorandum of Understanding between UN Tourism, UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, and the Center for Music Ecosystems. Its goal is to link music and creative industries with sustainable tourism and economic development.

An early collaboration partner is Zamna, a music platform founded in Tulum. The initiative plans a continuous calendar of concerts, productions, and cultural experiences. These activities are intended to extend beyond the hotel's premises to strengthen Tulum's overall destination appeal.

The strategy aims to encourage longer stays and greater local spending. Separately, Tulum's mayor, Diego Castañón Trejo, recently noted a low influx of sargassum seaweed in late August. He said promotion would be reinforced to invite visitors to enjoy the cleaner beaches.
