Sources and methods

The information and news presented on theroadatlas are compiled from a curated selection of published feeds and official indexes from established news publications. These sources are chosen for their coverage of topics central to our focus: destinations, travel logistics, and the practical costs of getting there. Each article we process is a summary of the original reporting. We use automated systems to assist in extracting key facts and figures, which are then rewritten into a concise, plain-English format. Every resulting story is clearly credited to the publication from which it originated.

When a factual claim, such as a specific regulation or price, appears in only one of our monitored publications, it is treated as provisional. It is not presented as a settled fact until it is corroborated by additional reliable reporting. This approach ensures the information we relay is stable and widely verified before being integrated into our permanent reference materials.

Our reference pages, such as those for countries, cities, or airlines, are built differently. They are constructed from aggregated facts that have become stable through repeated verification across multiple sources. Each reference page features a central facts table for key data and includes a credited photograph. These pages are intended as durable resources, updated only when the underlying factual landscape changes, such as after a major policy shift or a significant change in costs.

The news section of theroadatlas is refreshed continuously as our source publications update their own reporting. The permanent reference pages are reviewed and updated on a scheduled, periodic basis. The update frequency for each reference category is determined by the volatility of the information it contains; entry requirement pages, for instance, are checked more frequently than pages detailing historical itineraries. This combination of continuous news flow and methodical reference maintenance aims to provide both timely alerts and reliable foundational knowledge for travellers.
