GOL adds fifth weekly flight from Rio to Lisbon

Brazilian airline GOL will add a fifth weekly flight on its route between Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon starting November 24, 2026. The new Tuesday frequency increases the service from four flights per week.

The non-stop route from Rio's Galeão International Airport (GIG) to Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is scheduled to launch on September 16. Mateus Pongeluppi, GOL's Commercial Vice President, stated that the new frequency expands travel options ahead of the high season and strengthens connectivity with Portugal.

Flight schedules

The new Tuesday flight from Rio will be a daytime service, departing at 9:05 AM and arriving in Lisbon at 9:45 PM. The return leg from Portugal will be an overnight flight, leaving Lisbon at 11:35 PM and landing in Rio at 6:35 AM the following day.

From January 4 to February 7, 2027, the schedule will be adjusted for the Brazilian high season. During this period, flights will depart Rio at 9:35 PM and arrive in Lisbon at 10:15 AM the next day, operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Return flights from Lisbon will depart at 12:15 PM and arrive in Rio at 7:15 PM, operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

All operations on this route will be conducted using Airbus A330 aircraft configured to carry approximately 300 passengers.

Business INSIGNIA class

The long-haul route will feature GOL's Business INSIGNIA class. The experience includes priority check-in and boarding, access to GOL Smiles lounges and partner lounges in selected destinations, and priority disembarkation and baggage delivery.

Onboard, passengers will have seats that convert into fully flat beds. Amenity kits are from Granado. The service also includes active noise-canceling headphones and individual 16-inch touch screens.

The inflight dining menu was created by chef Felipe Bronze and is served in three stages during lunch and dinner. It features an appetizer, main course, and dessert. The options highlight Brazilian ingredients and traditions.

Ticket availability

Tickets for the Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon flights are already available for purchase. Sales channels include the GOL website, the company's app, and Smiles channels. Pongeluppi noted that the inaugural route in September paves the way for the airline's expansion in Europe.
