Porter Airlines Launches Five Domestic Routes From London Ontario
Porter Airlines will begin year-round service from London International Airport to Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver starting in spring 2027, offering an alternative to Toronto Pearson.

Porter Airlines is introducing five new domestic routes from London International Airport starting in spring 2027. The year-round flights will connect the Ontario city directly with Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver, providing a major new travel option for the region.
Service to Vancouver, Halifax, Ottawa, and Montreal is scheduled to begin on April 12, 2027. Flights to Edmonton will start on May 6, 2027. This expansion integrates London into Porter's network as a key regional hub, aiming to serve over two million residents in Southwestern Ontario who currently contend with Highway 401 congestion and travel to Toronto Pearson for flights.
Aircraft and onboard experience
The new routes will be operated using a combination of Porter’s Embraer E195-E2 and De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft. Both aircraft types are configured without middle seats. All passengers receive complimentary snacks, beer, and wine onboard, and the Embraer jets feature complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.
| Aircraft Type | Seats | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| Embraer E195-E2 | 132 | No middle seats, complimentary Wi-Fi, snacks, beer & wine |
| De Havilland Dash 8-400 | 78 | No middle seats, complimentary snacks, beer & wine |
Service frequency and business travel focus
Daily flights will operate on every route. The Ottawa and Montreal services are specifically tailored for business travelers, with plans for up to three daily round-trips on each. These flights will feature early morning departures from London and afternoon returns.
Strategic context and regional impact
This domestic expansion builds on Porter’s recent announcement of four sun destination routes from London to Florida, Mexico, and Jamaica, which begin this winter. The airport has been described as underserved with limited domestic service, despite serving a catchment area of about 2.5 million people within a short drive. London itself generated more than $1.1 billion in tourism activity last year, and Mayor Josh Morgan highlighted the tourism potential of the new air service.
Montreal service details
Flights to Montreal will operate from Montreal Metropolitan Airport, designated as YHU or MET. This airport is located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Montreal and is promoted as offering a premium, fast, and easy-to-handle lounge environment from check-in to boarding. Reservations for all five new domestic routes are already open.
