Riviera Maya Hotels Remodel 2,000 Rooms
Hotels in Mexico's Riviera Maya are renovating over 2,000 rooms ahead of the winter tourist season, supported by a global promotional campaign.

Hotels in Mexico's Riviera Maya have begun comprehensive remodeling of more than 2,000 rooms. The work aims to have the infrastructure fully ready and optimized for the start of the winter high season, according to a statement from the sector.
This tourist corridor is actively preparing for the winter peak. As part of these strengthening actions, the organized hotel industry also announced a global promotional agenda targeting Europe, South America, North America, and the domestic market.
Industry Resilience and Investment
Despite a year presenting significant challenges from macroeconomic factors, climate, and variations in global tourism dynamics, the Riviera Maya Hotel Association (AHRM) highlights the industry's resilience. Toni Chaves, president of the AHRM, stated the sector's response is strategic and proactive.
"It has been a year of great challenges and transformations due to various global and operational factors," said Chaves. "However, in the Riviera Maya we do not stop."
Chaves emphasized that renovating the rooms demonstrates the full confidence investors and hoteliers have in the destination. He said the goal is to prepare with the highest standards to guarantee every visitor has an unforgettable experience.
Global Promotional Push
Alongside the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo (CPTQ), the AHRM will intensify its participation in major global commercial fairs and stages during the second half of the year. The strategy involves directly addressing strategic source markets.
The promotional schedule for key markets is as follows:
| Market | Event/Location | Dates |
|---|---|---|
| Europe | Top Resa (Paris, France) | September 17-19 |
| Europe | World Travel Market - WTM (London, UK) | November 3-5 |
| South America | Promotion Caravan (Cordoba & Rosario, Argentina) | Not specified |
| South America | International Tourism Fair (FIT) (Buenos Aires, Argentina) | Not specified |
| South America | ABAV (Sao Paulo, Brazil) | Not specified |
| USA & Canada | Promotion caravans in multiple cities | Not specified |
| Mexico (Domestic) | Two strategic caravans across eight key cities | Not specified |
Targeting Key Source Markets
In the South American market, the plan includes an exhaustive Promotion Caravan in Argentina. This will involve direct B2B meetings with tour operators and travel agents in Cordoba and Rosario, attendance at the International Tourism Fair (FIT) in Buenos Aires, and concluding the tour with a notable participation in ABAV in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Recognizing the vital and strategic character of the United States and Canada as the region's primary historical sources of tourists, dedicated promotion caravans will also be deployed in multiple cities across both countries. This aims to strengthen connectivity and direct sales ahead of winter.
For domestic or national tourism, two strategic promotion caravans have been scheduled. They will tour a total of eight key cities: four in the north of the country and four distributed between the center and the Bajio region, bringing the destination's offerings closer to Mexican travelers.
The hotel sector recently began leveraging the period of lower tourist activity to drive this new stage of renewal in its facilities. The projects seek to modernize spaces, update services, and strengthen the offerings for visitors during the next winter high season.
