Edelweiss Air has unveiled a new cabin for its Airbus A350 aircraft, with the first flights scheduled to begin in June 2027. The Swiss leisure airline confirmed the first destinations for the newly configured planes will be Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar in Tanzania, Windhoek in Namibia, and Halifax in Canada.
According to the airline, all six of its Airbus A350s will be fitted with the new cabin generation by early October 2027. The company's CEO, Bernd Bauer, stated the update is a strategic expansion of its premium offer.
Cabin upgrades across all classes
The new cabins feature a modern design with high-quality materials and a harmonious color palette. In Economy Class, passengers will gain approximately three additional centimeters of legroom and greater seat recline.
Premium Economy offers a considerably larger space with 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. These seats provide about one meter of legroom and feature a rigid shell design that allows the backrest to recline without encroaching on the space of the passenger behind. The service in this class is also enhanced.
Business Class is arranged in a 1-2-1 layout, ensuring every passenger has direct aisle access. All seats convert into fully flat beds. The cabin includes four exclusive suites with doors that can be closed for exceptional privacy, alongside ample space and large 32-inch screens.
Enhanced service and amenities
The Premium Economy and Business Class experiences include several upgraded service elements. Bernd Bauer highlighted the focus on the new Premium Economy cabin in a statement.
"The new Premium Economy, in particular, offers our passengers significantly more space, comfort, and a vastly improved travel experience," said Bauer. He added that the update increases the total number of premium seats from 30 to 60 across the aircraft.

Free high-speed Wi-Fi and in-flight tech
A major highlight of the new cabin is the provision of free, high-speed internet connectivity. The service uses 'Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink,' which the airline says offers a fast and stable browsing experience comparable to being on the ground. Access requires a Travel ID or a Miles & More service card number.
All seats are equipped with 4K-resolution entertainment screens, Bluetooth audio, and high-performance USB-C and USB-A ports. Wireless charging is being introduced for seats in Premium Economy, Business Class, and the Business Suites. The airline's first flights with the new product are already available for purchase.
